This is a photograph taken mid afternoon on a beautiful spring day ... clouds building to the north over the Colorado Plateau. Sedona is just below the rim where the Colorado plateau breaks off and is among the red rocks that have been exposed after millions of years of erosion. The red rocks in Sedona are part of the geologic formation known as the Schnebly Hill Formation ... the whitish formation above it is the Coconino formation.
In the foreground on the left is Castle Rock, Bell Rock just to the right of the highway and finally Courthouse Rock on the right. A beautiful look into the heart of red rock country.
